SUMMER COOLERS FOR THE GLOWING SKIN

Lockdown might have stopped you from pampering your skin with a rejuvenating fruit facial. But you can always use ingredients from your kitchen to prolong the effect of your last session keeping up the glow. Read on to know few of such ingredients and concoctions infused with them, recommended by Ruby Biswas.

Cool Cucumber

Enriched with antioxidants such as carotenes, vitamins C and A, and lutein, this summer cooler hydrates the skin and protects it from free radical damage.

Take two tbsps gram flour and blend it with two-three tbsps cucumber juice. Apply the smooth paste over the face. Let it dry for 15-20 minutes and rinse off the summer DIY face mask with lukewarm water. Pat dry the skin.

Thirst-quenching Watermelon

Sipping this juice gives you a good dose of nutrients that helps in keeping your body healthy and hydrated. But while ingesting is beneficial adding it to your DIY face mask can refresh and rejuvenate your skin.

Blend together half cup of watermelon juice and one tbsp thick yogurt. Apply the mask on your face and neck for 20 minutes and rinse off with water. Result is a radiant and moisturised complexion.

Banana Split

Packed with vitamins B, C and E this healthy fruit promotes clear and glowing skin, and helps in maintaining the elasticity.

Take a raw banana, add raw milk, honey and a few drops of rose water and mix them to form a smooth paste for an anti-ageing DIY facial mask. Apply and let it stay for 15 minutes, and rinse off.

Tangy Tomatoes

A rich source of vitamin C, lycopene, folic acid and carotenoids, tomatoes help in improving collagen production, balancing skin pH level, exfoliating and stimulating cell production when applied topically in a DIY summer face mask.

Mix juice of one tomato and one tsp lemon juice. Apply the blend on your face with a cotton ball. Leave it for 10-15 minutes. Rinse off with cold water. Pat dry and apply a moisturiser.

Refreshing Coconut Water

This superfood can not just give you perfect curves but also great skin. The hydrating, detoxifying drink is infused with vitamins and minerals. It turns out to be an effective ingredient in DIY face masks. The nutrients present in it retard the process of skin ageing and stimulate restoration and repair of cells.

Take coconut water with pure honey to concoct a blend. The mix will be a bit runny and needs be applied with a cotton ball. Let it stay on the skin for 15-20 minutes. Rinse off with lukewarm water. You may add it to your haircare masks as well to soothe and hydrate your scalp and strands.
